Can New Horizons hire both local and foreign nationals?
Yes, we can hire staff from every nationality as long as their profiles are approved by the immigration authorities in order to obtain the working permit.
What is the immigration procedure for a foreign employee to work in China?
The employer in China must prepare with the employee all immigration files (1-2 weeks) in order to submit the employment application online to the local immigration authorities (3 weeks). Once accepted, the employer must apply for both the residence permit and the working permit (3 weeks).
What responsibilities do I have regarding my employee(s) in China?
New Horizons prepares all payroll calculation (including social charges, taxes, benefits, expenses claim, etc.) for the foreign company to validate on a monthly basis. This validation process is the only procedure requested from the foreign company, in order to ensure a constant follow up of the overseas teams’ labor costs. All onboarding and termination procedures are handled by New Horizons in accordance with local norms.
How many employees can I hire globally through a PEO partner?
The number of overseas is not limited and can vary according to the ongoing projects and business development.
What is the cost of termination of an employee in China?
None during the probationary period, then usually 1-2 months salary per year of seniority, according to the labor contract type and the reason for termination.
Can New Horizons also recruit staff in China, to be hired under a PEO solution?
Yes, our company provide recruitment services and PEO services, available for both foreign and local professionals from any background.
Can New Horizons hire staff on my behalf in different cities in China?
Yes, we can hire staff everywhere in China through our PEO network of local entities specialized in HR management services.
Can I hire a staff in 1 day?
Technically this is feasible. Moreover, it is possible in China to backdate the staff’s employment contract under the PRC Labor Law for social security payment purposes (upon request of the employee).
Do I need to pay taxes or social charges in China?
No, all mandatory social charges contributions (the 5 China social insurances), housing fund contributions, income tax payments are paid directly to the Chinese authorities and concerned 3rd parties by our local entities. Both the foreign company and its employee(s) can access the records of all payments at any time.
Can I pay my employee(s) from abroad?
All mandatory payments as per the labor contracts must be arranged via the employer of record entity. Additional payments (e.g. the benefits from a home country contract or expenses claim can be reimbursed directly by the foreign company.)
Does my staff need an office space?
In China, staff can be home-based or work in the location they prefer, as long as their foreign employer gives its approval. Nonetheless, the foreign company must ensure the maintain of a local office space available for the staff at any time, while informing New Horizons of all its employee(s)’ residence and working locations – if different from the office address.
How to change the terms and conditions of my staff contracts in China?
New Horizons can implement any changes directly with the employee on behalf of the foreign company.
