Annual leave in Taiwan (holiday / vacation)

Employees are entitled to paid annual leave based on their length of service:

  • More than six months but less than one year: 3 days.
  • More than one year but less than two years: 7 days
  • More than two years but less than three years: 10 days
  • More than three years but less than five years: 14 days
  • More than five years but less than ten years: 15 days

Plus, one additional day for each year of service over ten years up to a maximum of 30 days.

There are also between ten to 15 public holidays a year. Some of these occur on fixed dates such as Peace Memorial Day (28 February) and some change in accordance with the lunar calendar, such as Tomb Sweeping Day.

Employees can receive bridge days which are extra days off in Mainland China and Taiwan, allowing them to travel further and spend more time with their families during holiday breaks. To make up for the additional time off, there are compensation days where employees are required to work on weekends to balance out the bridge day.

If a public holiday falls on a weekend, then the following day or preceding day of that weekend would be considered an extra day of vacation.
