Learn about the notice period in Singapore thanks to Horizons’ up-to-date guide.
Horizons is where real, local hiring expertise meets world-class customer service. Quickly and compliantly hire employees in more than 150 countries worldwide, without the need to open a local entity.
For employees with less than 26 weeks of service, only 1 day’s notice period is required.
An employee that resigns without giving notice, will need to pay their employer salary in lieu of notice.
The notice period can be reduced if both parties agree to it. They may also agree to waive the notice period by mutual consent. This should be done in writing.
Unless stated in the employment contract, the notice period required will depend on the employee’s length of service, as follows:
Length of Service | Notice Period |
Less than 26 weeks | 1 day |
26 weeks to less than 2 years | 1 week |
2 years to less than 5 years | 2 weeks |
5 years and above | 4 weeks |
The length of notice must be the same for employers and employees.
